Homework is checked to see if it is completed or the students will answer 5 to 10 questions about their homework. Quizzes will be given at least once per chapter on notes, homework and readings. One quiz grade will be dropped a quarter. Class participation and preparation are important and will be averaged into your grade. Current Event articles will be assigned once per quarter and I will have a one project a semester. (1st Semester- DNA model and 2nd Semester – a Disease report) The project will count as a test grade.
Absences/Makeup Work: If you are absent from class please see me or email me about missed assignments, notes or any makeup work. If you have an excused absence and miss a quiz, test or lab, the work must be made up. If you miss a lab, you will need to make up the lab within one week of your return to school. If you miss a quiz, you will need to make it up the day you return to school either at lunch or after school. Test need to be made up within one week of your return to school. Tests usually need to be made up at lunch or after school. Please see me to arrange a convenient time to make up the work. Work can not be made up if the absence is unexcused. If this is the case a zero will be given.
Late Work: Any assignments including homework, lab work, reports, current event articles or projects must be completed on time and turned in at the beginning of class. I will deduct points from work that is turned in late. I will not accept work that is three or more days late.
If there is a printer problem at home, the students are free to email their assignments to me. Computer or printer problems at home are not an excuse for late work.
Behavior: Students are to abide by the policies in the student handbook as well as follow the Golden Rule – treat others as you want to be treated. Lunch detentions will be given for minor infractions such as excessive talking and late return of papers. Disciplinary slips will be completed for handbook infractions.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns. You are encouraged to frequently check your grades online.
